The Edison location holds special meaning as the first Ugly Dumpling restaurant. When we opened our doors in Edison, New Jersey, we were nervous but passionate about sharing our cuisine with the community. The early days were challenging—building a customer base, establishing consistency, and proving our concept in a competitive market. But the community embraced us. Local families became regulars. Business professionals discovered we were perfect for lunch meetings. Students found us affordable and delicious. Word of mouth spread throughout the area. Our Edison team worked tirelessly to ensure every customer had an excellent experience. We refined our recipes, perfected our service, and built relationships with our guests. Many of our original customers still come in regularly, even now with our expanded menu and improved space. The Edison location taught us invaluable lessons about hospitality. We learned that people appreciate authenticity more than perfect decor. We learned that quality ingredients and proper technique matter more than marketing. We learned that treating customers like family creates loyalty that advertising can't buy. The success in Edison inspired us to open additional locations. Each new restaurant carries the lessons from Edison—the commitment to quality, the focus on community, and the belief that great food brings people together. We still consider Edison our heart location and maintain the same standards there as we did on opening day.
